Ruchi — the Udupi Table

A pure-vegetarian kitchen run on temple-town rhythms: batter ground at dawn, ghee by the ladle, coffee frothed twice.

Our Story

A Thousand Years of Feasting, Fasting & Filter Coffee

In Udupi, cooking has always been worship. Our kitchen keeps the old rules — no onion or garlic on festival days, jaggery instead of sugar in the sweets, and the day's first dosa offered before it is sold. What has changed is the comfort: brass lamps, banana-leaf plates on silver, and coffee poured the length of a davara tumbler until it sings.

Stone-ground at Dawn

Rice and urad dal soaked overnight, ground wet on granite — never a mixie.

The Two-Froth Rule

Our filter kaapi is pulled between davara and tumbler twice — as tradition demands.

Mysore Pak Days

Fresh ghee-rich Mysore Pak every Thursday and Sunday, cut warm from the tray.
